Make Your Own Christmas Tree Decorations with Air-Dry Clay
Air-dry clay is a brilliant, fuss-free material for crafting handmade Christmas decorations. Lightweight, easy to shape, and quick to dry, it’s perfect for creating personalised ornaments that add warmth and charm to your tree.
To make a simple star, roll out your clay to around 5mm thick and use a cookie cutter to press out the shape. Smooth the edges with a little water, then use a straw or skewer to make a small hole at the top for hanging. Leave the star to dry completely — usually 24–48 hours — turning it occasionally for an even finish.
Once dry, you can paint it with acrylics, add metallic accents, or apply a glossy glaze for a polished shine. Thread a ribbon or twine through the hole, and your handmade decoration is ready to hang.
From stars and hearts to tiny trees and snowflakes, air-dry clay lets you create festive keepsakes that will be treasured year after year.
